Quotes from Bess

SFSS = South Florida Sun-Sentinel

Asked if his first NFL TD is bitter sweet because they lost the game, Bess said:
“Exactly. I’d trade the touchdown for a win any given day. We just didn’t execute on both sides of the ball. Baltimore came in ready to play and ready to step up to the challenge and they walked away with the victory.” (SFSS)

Asked about what happened on his TD catch and what he saw on it, Bess said:
“The play before, coach did a great job to see how they were playing. My guy bit and I ran with (Greg) Camarillo and I just looped back up around him. I was pretty much by myself and caught it.” (SFSS)

Asked how he felt after his TD, Bess said:
“It felt real good. It’s always good to get in the end zone, especially your first NFL touchdown. Like I said, it’s kind of sour now after losing, so hopefully we can get better.” (SFSS)

Asked what it was about the Ravens D that stopped them, Bess said:
“They were relentless. They played their scheme excellent. It was hard to tell exactly what personnel they were in and what coverage they were in. They came with attitude and stepped up to the challenge.” (SFSS)

About how he forgot to keep the ball after he scored his first NFL TD, Bess said:
“Obviously, that’s a rookie mistake. All the boys came up to me and said, ‘Man, what are you doing? You’re supposed to keep it.’ I got it, and that’s the big thing.” (SFSS)

About the his first TD, Bess said:
“The way I look at it, it’s the first of many.” (SFSS)

SFSS Note: “Backup quarterback John Beck was thoughtful enough to retrieve the ball from the official, so Bess could start filling his trophy case.”
