Note on how UH is improving

LCSN = Las Cruces Sun-News

LCSN Note: “Part of the reason for Hawaii’s success is due to the play of junior quarterback Inoke Funaki. He’s eighth in the league in total offense per game despite not having started every game and he’s thrown five touchdowns.”

About Inoke’s improvement, Mac said:
“Funaki isn’t a true run-and-shoot quarterback. We’re doing some different things with him. He was an option quarterback in high school, so we are having him do a few more things. He’s been throwing the ball with more velocity. The more he plays, the better. Our quarterback situation was up in the air early because of injury and academics.” (LCSN)

About facing BSU, Mac said:
“Boise State is the class of the WAC. Everyone strives to have their program like Boise State’s. They run to the ball well on defense and they are very intelligent. We have to be able to run the football against them.” (LCSN)
